Green Graduation Gifts

Elementary School

Little gardeners will love watching their seeds take root in root viewer kits, which are clear test-tube-like containers. Each kit contains radish, carrot and onion seeds, as well as a planting and harvesting guide. And if your little grad likes to play outside, try an update on a classic with a recycled tire swing made from out-of-use tires. They come in creative designs, including dinosaurs and stallions.

Middle School

For the young scientist in your family, solar-car assembly kits are the perfect gift. These mini solar-powered cars are as much fun to build as they are to drive. For tweens who have trouble getting out of bed, try a water-powered alarm clock. With water-powered batteries (so cool!) and simple instructions, this kit teaches kids how to create their own hydro-powered alarm clock. Waking up in the morning may not be easier, but at least the clock will make it more fun.

High School

Stylish teens will love bags and totes made out of materials such as reused license plates and reclaimed inner tubes. There are a variety of funky purses and clutches on the market, so you’re sure to find the perfect accessory for any grad with an eye for fashion. If your grad is more musically inclined, pick up some foldable recycled cardboard speakers. Made from recycled materials, these speakers are portable and come in a variety of cool designs.

College

A sleek addition to any post-college apartment, motherboard candle holders come in otherworldly designs and are made from recycled computer motherboards. World travelers will love solar backpacks, which contain solar panels that are capable of converting sunlight into enough energy to charge laptops, cell phones and many other electronic devices.
